Annual General Meeting 2008
The Trust's 2008
AGM was held on Thursday 20th November at the Bunch of Carrots,
Hampton Bishop, Hereford, at 7.30 p.m.
Following the AGM
there was an excellent presentation on The Lugg at Hampton Court,
Herefordshire, by Catherine Beale, author of Champagne and Shambles
and the Guide to Hampton Court, who took us over the
development of the site over the centuries, including the river's
exploitation by Lord Coningsby in the late 17th century fir features in
his spectacular gardens. In the mid 19th century the Arkwright family
brought their unparalleled knowledge of water power to bear on the same
site, while simultaneously enjoying the simpler pleasures of boating,
raising trout, and fishing. Today the Lugg is once again supplying
power, this time to the National Grid.
presentation there was an enjoyable reception with light refreshments.
